Stress in a Pandemic

Stress in the age of #pandemic.

Here in the #Philippines, we have the challenge of short notice changes.

Government officials hold press conferences late in the evening. Changes take effect immediately.

Before they’re fully considered. Without an implementation plan.

Like a few months back – all online learning was banned.

Wait, what?

It was later applied only to school students so as to not disadvantage those without internet.

Or when all quarantine passes were cancelled immediately before a replacement system was in place.

The constant flux is stressful. The lack of stability or consistency causes anxiety.

We can’t expect our staff to perform at their best in an environment of uncertainty. Are we back in the office next week? Yes, we will. No, it will be next month. Hold on – the rules have changed.

Now we have decided to wait a full 30 days after quarantine is lifted, before recalling staff to the office.

If a client insists, we will open earlier as long as it’s allowed.

But now, we have a tiny piece of certainty in our lives. We have at least 30 days planning time, whatever happens.

How are you planning in these uncertain times?
