Mental Health during Lockdown
How are you managing mental health during the lockdown? Yours and your staff?
I am extremely fortunate.
I’m an introvert, I am perfectly happy isolated at home.
I have plenty of work. I enjoy cooking. I have a comfortable home. Pets.
In fact, life hasn’t changed a whole lot. I usually decline most social invitations. Now events aren’t happening.
I miss restaurant food; I like to dine out. Take-out isn’t my favourite.
At the start of the quarantine, I worried excessively about my business. I envisaged the worst, but the opposite has happened. We have many new clients, and they are happy with the WFH arrangement. They want our staff to stay safe.
Like I say, I am very very lucky.
Not everyone is doing as well.
Some of my staff live in cramped quarters. Some are alone and feel isolated. Others are with their families, or friends, and there is no escape if there is tension.
I don’t know anyone who is in danger, but some have reported depression and anxiety.
We provide counseling and medical resources. We keep them busy if that helps, we ease up on their deliverables if it doesn’t.
It’s a unique and unprecedented situation, and we are each doing our best.
Are you okay?
