What’s the biggest impact a job has had on your life?

I’ve experienced two extremes.

On one hand, I’ve suffered clinical burn-out. Extreme stress, excessive travel and lack of organizational support left me ill.

Anxiety and depression. Alternating hypersomnia and insomnia.

I was unable to work for more than a year, and suffered extreme social anxiety. I was a mess!

As a result, I chose not to return to corporate life.

And on the other hand, a different experience.

Many years earlier – I got a whole new life, career, homeland.

I was sent to the Philippines on a 3 month business trip. I never went back!

An overseas trip opened up doors and opportunities I never imagined.

Life is richer and fuller. I can give back to the community in a way I couldn’t envisage back in my home country.

Business opportunities abound too.

I experienced the absolute worst and the absolute best that a company can bestow upon an employee.
